Pemberton Water Activities

Pemberton is surrounded by stunning lakes and rivers which offer ample opportunity for water activities. Popular water activities in the area include boating on Anderson Lake, swimming at One Mile Lake or Birkenhead Lake, canoeing the Lillooet River or white water rafting down the Birkenhead River.



Whistler Jet Boating offers the Green River Thriller tours which will take you to the base of spectacular Nairn Falls. Some of the best areas for boating are on Anderson Lake in D'Arcy. There is a public dock at the south end of the lake. This is a great lake for water skiing, wake boarding and fishing.


Popular places to kayak and canoe in the Pemberton area include Birkenhead Lake, Anderson Lake and on the Lillooet and Green Rivers. Outdoor Adventures in Whistler offers the Lillooet Safari tour and Sunset Cruise where you can experience an authentic Voyageur canoe adventure. On this tour you will see white sand beaches, swimming holes, waterfalls and wildlife. You will also enjoy a gourmet picnic.


Some of the best swimming in the Pemberton area can be found at several of the local lakes. One Mile Lake is situated just on the outer edge of Pemberton and offers a small beach and park area. Mosquito Lake and Ivey Lake are located just a 15 minute drive north of Pemberton and are great swimming lakes. Further north is beautiful Birkenhead Lake which has a large beach area and is a popular lake with families. Other popular swimming areas include Strawberry Point on Lillooet Lake.

Paddle Boarding

White Water Rafting

Wedge Rafting in Whistler offer white water rafting tours on Green River and also Birkenhead River north of Pemberton. Rafting on the Green River is great for families and all ability levels. This is a Class 2-3 river that offers spectacular views of the surrounding mountains. Birkenhead River is a Class 3 river that offers a more adventurous excursion.
